We trust the Lord has been blessing each of you in His health, happiness and holiness. May we each receive the fullness of the fruit of His Spirit that the precious character of Christ may be seen in our lives.

Four weeks have elapsed since our last devotional. May we initiallly apologise in the delay of these sendings. It seems each year brings additional spiritual responsibilities that require our fervent attention and we see the year 2003 as no exception. Local church responsibilities have increased as well as plans for central London outreach activity. We are currently engaged in preparing for two major evangelistic campaigns overseas and at home. The Lord has blessed our family richly and we are ever thankful to see the positive mental, physical and spiritual developments through Abi. Abi turned six months a few days ago. There are so many developments to mention but not enough time to highlight every aspect in this devotional. However, we strongly believe that you will be immensely blessed by the content we have compiled. Taking all the above into account, and the increasing need to support evangelistic campaigns and outreach projects, we have changed the "Weekly Devotional" to a "Devotional Newsletter" that will be issued anytime from each week upto each month, depending on the number of important Christian events and prayer requests that accrue over a four week period. We hope the new approach will prove more beneficial to you. Please remember that you are given authority to reproduce or print the content of each devotional newsletter. This weeks devotional newsletter will look at Christ Our Sacrifice and compare Isaiah 53 with verses in the New Testament.

In addition to the important prayer requests, we received a very timely testimonial from Jess LaVey, the son of Anton LaVey who founded the Church of Satan in California. Its an incredible testimony of the power of Christ to save. Read how the Lord plucked this precious brand from darkness into His marvellous light. What a shocking situation the world is currently in ! War looms ever closer between the USA, UK and Iraq. The USA has threatened to sanction against countries such as France and Germany if they refuse to co-operate to assist the looming war. Our UK Prime Minister has travelled to Rome to seek advice from the Roman Catholic Leader. The UK has already sent non regular soldiers (civilian Territorial Army) to Iraq for potential combat. Over a million UK residents marched through central London in protest of the war where many recognise that oil reserves is the real issue rather than the threat of terrorism. A mosque in London was raided by police in search of terrorists. Dr Len Horowitz reveals how the smallpox vaccine is a genocidal conspiracy to reduce the world population. Jesus promises us His internal peace, a peace that the world can never understand. Jesus promises us His courage, boldness and love to share the urgency of the Everlasting Gospel to every nation, kindred, tongue and people. Let us prepare ourselves, our families, our brethren and loved ones to bear the last day events and to stand in Christ's Righteousness at His Second Coming.

The Lord loves us dearly. He gave His life for us. May His death not be in vain in our lives.

.::. Part 3 - Christ Our Sacrifice .::.

"He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities" (Isaiah 53:5).

"CHRIST THE SACRIFICIAL LAMB OF GOD"

Through disobedience Adam fell. (Genesis 2:16, 17; 3:6; Romans 5:12). The law of God had been broken. (1 John 3:4 & Romans 4:15). The divine government had been dishonoured, and justice demanded that the penalty of transgression be paid.

To save the race from eternal death, the Son of God volunteered to bear the punishment of disobedience. Only by the humiliation of the Prince of heaven could the dishonour be removed, justice be satisfied, and man be restored to that which he had forfeited by disobedience. There was no other way. For an angel to come to this earth, to pass over the ground where Adam stumbled and fell, would not have sufficed. This could not have removed one stain of sin, or brought to man one hour of probation.

Christ, equal with God (Philippians 2:6), the brightness of the Father's "glory and the express image of His person" (Hebrews 1:3), clothed His divinity with humanity, and came to this earth to suffer and die for sinners. The only begotten Son of God humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. By bearing in His body the curse of sin, He placed happiness and immortality within the reach of all.

Through what sacrificial ceremony did God anciently teach man the plan of salvation ? How would this impress upon fallen humanity the solemn truth that it was sin that caused death ? (Genesis 4:4 & Genesis 22:13. See also Note 1).

Genesis 3:21. Notice how it was that God supplied clothing to Adam and Eve which was made of "coats of skins ". (Genesis 3:21).

Genesis 4:4. A plan was devised that the sentence of death should rest upon a substitute; there must be the shedding of blood, for death must come in consequence of man 's sin. The beasts for sacrificial offerings were to prefigure Christ. In the slain victim, man was to see the fulfilment for the time being of God's word, "Ye shall surely die". (Genesis 2:17). When Abel offered the firstling of the flock, he acknowledged God, not only as the Giver of temporal blessings, but also as the Giver of the Saviour. Abel's gift was the very choicest he could bring; for it was the Lord's specified claim. But Cain brought only of the fruit of the ground, and his offering was not accepted by the Lord. It did not express faith in Christ. (See also Hebrews 11:4).

Genesis 22:13. The offering of Isaac was designed by God to prefigure the sacrifice of His Son. Isaac was a figure of the Son of God, who was offered a sacrifice for the sins of the world. God desired to impress upon Abraham the gospel of salvation to men; and in order to make the truth a reality, and test his faith, He required Abraham to slay his greatly loved son. All the agony that Abraham endured during that dark and fearful trial was for the purpose of deeply impressing upon his understanding the plan of redemption for fallen man. The Bible says that; "By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called: Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in figure." (Hebrews 11:17-19).

Does the Bible reveal how Christ was to suffer on behalf of fallen man? If so, can we prove from the New Testament that these prophecies came to pass ?

ISAIAH 53	NEW TESTAMENT	COMMENT
"the arm of the Lord" (verse 1)	John 12:34-38; Acts 13:17 (Compare Acts 7:35 & Exodus 3:1-4, 14 with John 8:58)	The Bible reveals that Christ represents the Arm of the Lord. He is the great "I AM" who also led the children of Israel from Egypt to the wilderness. (1 Corinthians 10:4).
"He hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him" (verse 2)	Philippians 2:7 & Mark 9:12	These words do not mean that Christ was unattractive in person. In the eyes of the Jews, Christ had no outward display or worldly glory that they should desire him. The grace and virtue in his life did not appeal to them.
"He was despised and rejected of men" (verse 3)	Mark 8:31 & John 1:1	The very Foundation of the Jewish nation's stability, was to them "a stone of stumbling". See 1 Peter 1:1-8.
"smitten of God" (verse 4)	Mark 14:27	Jesus declares that He is the "good Shepherd" who gave His life for the sheep. (John 10:11).
"He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities" (verse 5)	1 Corinthians 15:3; John 1:29 & 2 Corinthians 5:21	This penalty Christ bore for the sins of the transgressor; He has borne the punishment for every man and for this reason He can ransom every soul, however fallen his condition.
"All we like sheep have gone astray" (verse 6)	Matthew 9:36 & 1 Peter 2:25	Those who know Christ's voice will follow His example. See John 10:1-16
"He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth" (verse 7)	Matthew 26:59-63	Satan assailed Christ in every point, yet He sinned not in thought, word or deed. (John 14:30). Walking in the midst of sin, He was holy, harmless, undefiled. He was wrongfully accused, yet He opened not His mouth to justify Himself.
"He was cut off out of the land of the living" (verse 8)	Matthew 27:35, 50	Jesus is referred to in Daniel 9:26 where at a specific prophetic point, the Messiah would be "cut off".
"He made His grave with the wicked, and with the rich in His death...neither was any deceit in His mouth" (verse 9)	Matthew 27:38, 57-60 & 1 Peter 2:22	Jesus was crucified and placed in the middle of two thieves. Joseph a rich man of Arimathaea, buried Jesus in his own new tomb. Throughout Christ's earthly life, there was no guile in His mouth.
"He shall see His seed...the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand" (verse 10)	Luke 12:32 & Ephesians 1:3-12	Christ will spend all eternity with the redeemed and obtain tremendous satisfaction from those who He will save.
"by my knowledge shall my righteous Servant justify many" (verse 11)	Romans 3:26	By the blood of Christ, He will justify or cleanse from sin all who sincerely come to Him.
"intercession with the transgressors" (verse 12)	Hebrews 4:14-16; 7:25	Christ went to commence His priestly ministry in the heavenly sanctuary after His death and ascension.

NOTES:

1) The sacrificial offerings were ordained by God to be to man a perpetual reminder and a penitential acknowledgement of his sin and a confession of his faith in the Seed of the woman, the promised Redeemer. To Adam, the offering of the first sacrifice was a most painful ceremony. His own hand must be raised to take life, which only God could give. It was the first time he had ever witnessed death, and he knew that had he been obedient to God, there would have been no death of man or beast. As he slew the innocent victim, he trembled at the thought that his sin must shed the blood of the spotless Lamb of God.

2) From the adjacent table, it is clear that Isaiah's prophecy on the Suffering Servant was fulfilled in the life of Christ. It was part of the mission of Jesus to willingly offer His life on behalf of sinful man. "Christ died for the ungodly...in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us". (Romans 5: 6, 8).

1) Prayer request for Samuel Wilkie - a 3 month boy with a hole in the heart is currently in hospital. Samuel's father uses the situation as a witness. Regular hymns are sung by non-Christians in support ! Pray for God's ministry of healing for this precious baby.

I was born December 24,1968 in the Mother church of satan in east Berlin, Germany.I was born for the purpose of leadership in the church of satan.To take my fathers place when he passed on.My fathers goal was to create the perfect child to take this leadership roll.Much to my fathers surprise I turned out very different to what he exspected.So he spent his years very angry because he could not break my will a different path than his. I did not like what I saw in the church of satan. When I was five years old,I was sent to catholic Military Academy when my uncle through the courts had gotten custody of me.He was my mother's brother and hated by both of my parents.He filed for me and my sister to be removed.My uncle was unaware of the problems I had until the school told him.I did not speak at all.I was diagnosed as autistic.The school did not feel I would make it in their program and I would have to be moved to a school that handled kids like me,or sent home.However,"there was a nun by the name of sister Marian who begged the school to let me stay. She pleated with them for hours to let her work with me.For some reason she saw there was hope where they did not. She had a very usual strong relationship with God. She had very hard road ahead of her and people that did not believe this would work at all.But some how she got them to give her the chance.

I came from a very abusive home that above all was not normal.I was very untouchable because of the abject fear added deep wounds to my spirit.I had been abuse both,physically and mentally by both parents who lived for satanism.Medically I was beyond hope,beyond the point of return. Even those sister Marian knew the facts she had the hope of the Lord instilled in her heart.She worked with me day and
night for a year before I began to come out of my world.Her love and hard work in Christ,paid off.Even those it was still a long road ahead,the first part of the battle was won.Her hard work began to take effect in my life by the time I was ten years of age.You would not even have guessed I was without hope for a normal life. She gained the respect of lot of people as they watched the change.I was said to be a very strong willed child. That alone but fear in my fathers heart.Sister Marian continued to work with me for years.There were times I was still abused when I went home,but for some reason I did not let it stop me from moving ahead.I suffered a lot of abuse that is to graphic to put in this story I was ten when I became curious as to why my father---Anton S. Lavey,hated God so much.

I came across an add in the newspaper which offered a Bible study course through the mail.So I sent for it and kept what I was doing top secret for years. slowly, "This interest became more than mere curiosity.It began to have an effect on me as I turned 14 years old.I had completed high school and been admitted to my first year of college and I was going through a lot of changes.I had decided to visit churches,but when I finally asked how to come to Christ and they found out who I was,I would only get" wheel-a-deal-salvation trips".I gave up for a time,but things became worse. There was a battle with demons,night after night,the torment was heavy and taking my health down.And I also had gotten to the point of considering suicide.My father was also putting the pressure on me to be apart of the church.Yet I was drawn to the side of Christ.I was even afraid to sleep at night for fear of the battle with satan.My father told me in no way I ever could be a christian because of the seal of the church of satan that was on me could never be broken. Knowing that, there was little hope left in my heart to ever be free of that.

My last week in military school,I decided to join some friends on the beach.They were partying for the weekend as they always did.As I was with them,my heart did not feel a part of what they were doing.My heart was heavy with battle inside.So I left and went back to the dorms. While I was walking I saw card on the ground which read...Vineyard Christian Fellowship".I leaned my surf board up against the phone booth and called.This was my last call for help.I was so afraid to tell the pastor my name.He told me it did not matter what my name was.He only wanted to help.He came down in the dead of the night in this old beat up station wagon and picked me up and took me to his elders house and they both prayed over me through the night and morning.The deliverance was very long and a awful battle.I was a new person in the Lord when it was over.I was greatful He place no importance as to who I was,He was only concern about doing the job the Lord had put before Him.He was a very caring man of God.

Pastor Steve Cook worked with me for five years in counseling and bring me up in Christ.As I look back I can see where God has put many of his people in my life to help me every step of the way.And I have learned a lot from my many different stages of walk with Christ.And the Lord has given me a well rounded education.I don't regret all that I have been through because it is all use to help others for the glory of God.After being with the vineyard for five years the pastor decide to close the church and move to Northern California.I had become so close to him that I took my eyes off of Christ.I grew angry and left to go live with my father,and that open the doors to more deadly warfare.

There is a lesson in this;We must not open the doors for satan to come back in
because it is ten times worse than before, in dealing with demons.Like so many people I did not have a good
understanding of that.I began to struggle with thoughts of the same thing as before when I was first delivered. Suicide was the first to come back and this time I tried to do it.I almost died.The warfare with satan became bigger and harder.I was trying to live on both sides of the fence.I had no clear understanding of what It met to give my entire life to Christ.Later I learned that I had only given a part of my self to Him and that is why I had not gotten past a lot of the problems that kept coming back.I also had to learn to keep the doors closed.I kept opening door and never keeping the harmfull things out that were of sin.The Lord put another man in my life,Scott David.While living at home I tried to please my father by becoming active in leadership in his church of satan and than going to a Christian church at the same time.Matthew 6:24,You can not serve two masters at one time.I was so blind to what I was doing.Thinking I could live on both sides of the fence,the torment and the night battles with demons became worse than before. All over again.And I did not understand why.

I tried counseling,it did not help.I went from preacher to preacher,
trying to find deliverance all over again.that did not work.Because God knew unless I had a clear understand
ing of what I was doing wrong first before He would help me again with deliverance.That's where He sent
Scott in to my life to help me with all that.I had to be willing to give my entire self to Christ.I was ask-
ing for help to relieve the pain,but I would open the doors by going back to pulling satan's stuff in to my
life again that was of sin.Not dealing with what really needed to change.I would not listen either to others who tryed to tell me.So my time was spent on satans merry-go-round.My heart had to be willing to
give my whole self to Christ and denounce everything evil and get reid of all symbols that where of satan
or occult stuff.And all things of the world,before Christ could really mold me into a strong christian, I had to stand up and keep the doors closed to satan and his cohorts.I became so dependent on man to help me I
would call on them first rather than Christ.I was not reading the word of God or dealing with the problem of
my self."The Lord said ok",I'm sending someone in to your life once again to help you get on the right path
and He did.He brought me back to the Lord and help me see my foolish ways.He was very hard on me,But Christ being the Father He is Knows what we need.

Christ used Scott in a mighty way to get through to me because Christ Jesus was trying,but I was not listing.The Lord has many ways to get our attention when needed. I feared breaking up with my father,But I had to make a choice. I could no longer be in the house of satan.Scott and his wife provided a way for me to leave.I waited until my father went out of town.Than I packed everything and moved out.I had made many trips for the past two days.On my next to the last trip,a friend of my fathers saw me packing.He notified my father who flew back home when he heared I was leaving.On my final trip,as I was loading my truck,He drove up to Estate with another high priest who was driving the car.My father jumped out of the car and grabbed me and threw me to the ground yelling angery words at me while useing a whip on me at the same time.All of a sudden his gun fell from his coat pocket to the ground and I guikly rolled over and picked it up and began shooting the tires out on His vehicle.I got up and ran to my truck and drove away leaving him standing there yelling.I had forgotten I still had the gun.I was covered with whip marks a long with blood all over me,with my clothes ripped.I was driving down the canyon road while the police were racing up the road to my fathers house.I just kept going.In the mean time I had put the gun on the shelf behind me in the truck.

I was now 35 miles down the road when I came to a small beach front town,called seal beach.I saw a phone booth and decided to stop and call Scott to let him know what happen.I was badly cut up and pretty shaken by what took place.I knew if my father found me He would kill me.As i was talking with Scott on the phone,suddenly I was surrounded with police cars and police yelling at me.Here I was all cut up, blood all over me with a German Luger in the truck fully loaded and in plain view,sitting on the storage box shelf behind the drivers side.Little did I know that while I was using the phone,there was a robbery going on down the street and the robber had busted the glass out of the store.In the mean time Scott was fighting with the police Dept.over the phone.I did not yet know about the robbery.I thought I was being stoped because of my father sent them.They searched the truck as I watched,I though for sure I was toast.I thought sure they would see the gun.They looked right over it.

Everyone knows the police don't miss a thing while searching.I knew than that God's hand of protection
was over me for sure.I also feared I would be framed for something I did not do,knowing the police in that
area. They found a witness who Identified me as not the rob-ber.Thank God the witness was truthful.The police than tryed to find out what happen to me and I would not tell them.I was very glad that night was over.It was new years eve of 1989.From that time on I became stro-nger in Christ Jesus.After Scott and his wife left for over seas,The Lord called me to the ministry,but first Bible school.I maintain two ministries--Sword of the spirit Min. in Nevada and Lavey's min. in southern CA. The Lord used me in so many ways to reach kids mixted up in the occults.What touched my heart is to see how these life's I had touched for the Lord have grown stronger in Christ.Looking back over my life from the beginning to the present,I know only God can give hope to a life that has none.

Only God can heal the wounds and make us whole and sound of mind.I had no hope of making it even through my childhood.Looking at all the healing He has done and the different people He has use to help me and guild me through the years,only God could have had his hand in it all.Of course this story only touches very little of what has happen from beganing to now.Sometimes we fail to see what God really does for us as our father.When I made the simple choice to give my entire self to him my life be came stronger in Him.Life still gets hard sometimes,but with him first in my life I'm able to withstand the hardships with out falling apart or going back to the old ways.I now can stand as a warrior withstand the fiery darts satan throws my way from time to time.I know for a fact that God's protection is greater than any thing that the world could offer.He has a reason for every thing we go through and a purpose for our life.all those sometimes we don't see the reason at first we will laster as we look back on every thing we have gone through and if you look hard enough you will see God's hand in it every time.he truly takes care of every need we have.He has proven that over and over again in my life.He has also proven his love as a father,even when I did not deserve it.My service to him could never repay all of what he has done for me through out my life.He has been their for me both in my times of deepest sorrow and in times of joy. Remember to "STAND,FIGHT AND DELIVER IN CHRIST.

Hi, I wanted to request prayer for myself. I also want to request prayer for my former boyfriend, who I became separated from. He suffers from paranoid schizophrenia. We became separated because he became very paranoid and mistrustful of me due to his illness. He became ill New year's 2000. he has been paranoid since. He was in hospital for 7 days. he does work. he was on medication, but now he is not taking meds for about 4 months. I noticed a major change in his behavior at this time. he lives with his father, who
will not get him help. He is getting noticeably more paranoid, to the point he does not question his ideas or thoughts. He Has become paranoid to the point that I am afraid he will hurt someone. I am afraid if I do something, and I am afraid of what will happen if I don't. I am praying for a miracle, for a way to help him, before something terrible happens to him or someone else.I am praying for an angel in this situation. I believe his father thinks it will 'do no good' and I don't believe that. This is a very difficult situation. Please pray for me my family, my former boyfriend,(.J.D.) and this situation. Dear everyone,

Tonight Herman has had two seizures, but they were unlike the previous ones...Now Herman is in the hospital for observation and to have his medicines checked... Please pray for all of us involed. Epilepsy is a desease of the brains and not a demon. Demons cannot be controlled by medicines. I know about demon possession and this is a totally different matter. I will be in Apeldoorn at daytime and Wednesday (my birthday) we have an appointment with our neurologist. I am numb and in a state of shock... He is now on 1500 mg depakine and we hope this will be ok... I really are having a hard time and please be kind to me when you reply. I cannot take that much anymore and if he will have another seizure... I am exhausted and I am not the strong wife I am 'supposed' to be. This epilepsy is too much for me to handle...Please pray for Herman and me and our parents. Thanks, Mirjam.

Prime Minister Tony Blair has had a private audience with Pope John Paul II in the Vatican, accompanied for part of the visit by his wife, Cherie, and some of their four children.The audience lasted for 30 minutes - 15 minutes for the Pope to speak privately to Mr Blair and 15 minutes for the family to meet the pontiff.The Pope was thought to be using his audience with Mr Blair to repeat his public message that war with Iraq could not be morally justified.Neither Downing Street nor the Vatican would confirm any details of the visit, with both describing it as a private occasion.A Vatican spokeswoman would say only: "The audience took place at 11am and lasted for 30 minutes. "But the Pope has also recently granted audiences to Iraq's Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Aziz and United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan. Mr Blair, in Rome yesterday for talks with his Italian counterpart Silvio Berlusconi, told reporters after that meeting: "I obviously know the views of the Pope very well and they are very clear. ANTI-TERROR POLICE RAID LONDON MOSQUE

Policeman Murder: Raid suspect charged with terror offences. SEVEN people have been arrested after police raided London's Finsbury Park mosque in an operation linked to the discovery of ricin earlier this month. Witnesses said more than 150 police, including armed officers and others carrying ladders and battering rams, took part in the raid. Radical cleric Abu Hamza, 45, is based at the mosque but it's not clear if he is among those arrested. Two neighbouring three-storey houses were also raided. A Scotland Yard spokesman said the operation was "pre-planned and intelligence-led". Seven people were arrested under the Terrorism Act 2000. They have been taken to a central London police station. The cleric, who lost both hands and an eye while fighting in Afghanistan against the Soviet occupation, has become one of the most controversial Muslim figures in Britain. A police spokesman said police wanted to make clear that the raid was not against the mosque itself or those who went there to pray, but had targeted specific terrorist suspects. He continued: "The operation is part of ongoing and extensive inquiries by the Metropolitan Police's Anti-Terrorist Branch into alleged terrorist activity in London and elsewhere in the UK. "Although this operation is linked to arrests made in north and east London on January 5, at this stage there is nothing to suggest that chemical substances are on the premises and there is no suggestion at this stage that there is any risk to the public."

The al Qaida network that claimed the September 11 suicide attacks against the United States has ordered its members to abduct" Zionists" and carry out suicide bombings at embassies and airports around the world, reports said Tuesday, January 21. In a letter that appeared on a Web site identified with al Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, the group called on members to rid the world of "non-believers," the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ) News Service reported." Attempts must be made to abduct...one or two Americans or Zionists, focus on abducting journalists or famous people in order to pressure [the US or Israel]," al Qaida was quoted as telling its supporters. It ordered members to target embassies all over the world that belong to" enemies," suggesting missile attacks against the buildings as "some of the embassies are located in areas suitable for missile attacks." Al Qaida gives several examples of different ways to carry out attacks, including cars bombs detonated by remote control, or suicide bombers who detonate simultaneously to create a "greater effect."

> 'ONE MILLION' PROTEST IN LONDON

MORE than one million people staged an anti-war protest in London today, making it the UK's largest ever peace demonstration, organisers claimed. Hundreds of thousands of campaigners were in Hyde Park for a mass rally to oppose conflict with Iraq. The turnout dwarfed the 400,000-strong countryside march which took place last year. Former Labour Cabinet minister Mo Mowlam joined others including veteran campaigner Tony Benn and Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy. The noisy but good natured protest was peaceful so far, with Scotland Yard reporting just three arrests. Two men aged 31 and 32 were detained for public order offences. One 47-year-old man was detained for possession of an offensive weapon and racist material after being arrested in Whitehall Place. They remain in custody. Organiser John Rees said the turnout was fantastic. "It's an electric atmosphere but also very serious and determined. It's not just a question of war and peace." London Mayor Ken Livingstone and campaigner Bianca Jagger also took In Glasgow, organisers said around 61,000 protesters marched through the city where the Labour party's spring conference was being held. And in Italy, one million peace protesters flooded central Rome.

(Compass) -- In early January, the Constitutional Tribunal of Peru struck down as unconstitutional anti-terrorism laws decreed by ex-president Alberto Fujimori in the early 1990s, nullifying convictions of civilians in military courts. Civilians tried in secret military tribunals by “faceless” judges whose identities remained concealed under heavy hoods will be re-tried in civilian courts. While the news is seen as a positive step for human rights, it actually worsens the plight of some prisoners, said Wuille Ruiz, a lawyer for the Lima-based Peace and Hope Association, an evangelical legal aid group. Ruiz, himself wrongly imprisoned in 1993, said the ruling will not help the great majority of Christians falsely accused of terrorism. The ruling does not strike down convictions handed down by masked jurists, nor does it offer reparations to victims, some of whom have lost more than a decade of their lives in prison for crimes they did not commit. “But we hope that international standards are adhered to (and) that a number of these cases would be resolved,” Ruiz said.

LONDON -- Dolly the cloned sheep was put to death Friday, after premature aging and disease marred her short existence and raised questions about the practicality of copying life. The decision to end Dolly's life at age 6 -- about half the life expectancy of her breed -- was made because a veterinarian confirmed she had a progressive lung disease, according to the Roslin Institute, the Scottish lab where she was created and lived.
